Liebster Award

                                                             Hey! I missed a post last Sunday....boo! :(
                                                               I'm back today for another post...yay! :)

This is a bit of a special post. The wonderfully awesome Shalunya from Shalunya and Boyet nominated me for the Liebster Award. How sweet was that? She is Great, and I hope anyone who visits me will check out her blog to! So,the Liebster Award is for new bloggers/few followers. The award helps people find new blogs, and helps bloggers find new followers/readers/friends which is a wonderful thing. I had hoped to get this post up way sooner, but this week was cra (oh my goodness I almost put cra cra :[ crazy any whoo!

The to do list:
              * Answer the 11 questions set  for me
              * Tag 11 new bloggers/with fewer than 200 followers
              * Write a new set of 11 questions for the bloggers
              * Contact them to let them know

1) How many lipsticks do you own?
To many I think, but not as many as some. Lipsticks are my fav beauty product to buy so...yeah a good many, but not many high end ones though.:)

2) If money were no object, what 3 beauty items would you purchase?
It would have to be Creme De La Mer Moisturizer($285),Tria hair removal system($450),Tria skin perfecting blue light ($250). I would want to try the creme de la mer just to see how a moisturizer could cost so much lol. It would be nice to not have to shave anymore,so thats why I included the Tria. I have heard great things about light therapy for acne, and having my own personal device for that would be lovely.

3) What drugstore product doesn't get enough love, attention and respect from the beauty community?
I have to shout out to my NYC Smooth Skin foundation. I talked about this in my NYC spotlight as well as my July favs. I have not heard anyone in the beauty community talk about this foundation or NYC much. I also want to mention two lip products I have never heard anyone talk about. I have only found them at some Rite Aid stores. The first is the Hedy's Ma.nish.ma transparent lip crayon, and I love it. This is basically a sheer lip balm crayon. It is so buttery, moisturizes, smells good, cute, glossy. They are so great for summer. There is four shades raspberry, tangerine, watermelon, and grape. The other one is the City Color lip balm. I have the shade light pink, but I believe there are also three more shades. This is a balm, but has the color of a lipstick. It's smooth/creamy again this smells good/sweet. Both of these are like $2 or $3 dollars.

bottom-hedy's lip crayon in raspberry
top- city lip balm in light pink

4) If  you could start a beauty trend, what would it be?
The not tanning trend/natural skin.Whatever it may be.For instance,I am very pale/fair. I know everyone loves to be super tan,but I think natural skintone is just as beautiful. I kinda admire people like Nicole Kidman, Rose Mcgowen ,Dita Von Teese. These women own their skin year round, and it's their signature. Not to mention how harsh the sun is on our skin for those who tan in a bed or the sun. SPF 100

5) If you could only purchase from one skincare line for life, which one would it be?
WoW this is a hard question. I change up my skincare very frequently always searching for my miracle product. I also find that if I use the same products all the time they become less effective. This might just be my mind making an excuse to try new things. If I absolutely had to choose it would have to be Cetaphil. I have sensitive acne prone skin, and I know that Cetaphil products wont irritate my skin at all. The face wash gently cleanses my skin without making me red or my face feel tight. I love the Face moisturizer for oily/acne skin it helps control oil, spf ,oil free, fragrance free. My son has some mild eczema,so this is the brand I use for him as well.

6) Why did you begin beauty blogging?'
I have always been very into beauty/makeup. I love to read beauty blogs or watch beauty vlogs on utube. Makeup makes me happy, and I love to talk about it. Surprisingly though not everyone shares my same zeal for all things beauty. I guess it seems kinda trivial to some. I don't see it that way though, and I wanted to connect with people who share my love for it.

7) You're backpacking and can only carry three beauty products, which 3 would you carry?
Well if it was just a day trip I would take my Sunscreen, lip balm, and my Mario Badescu Facial spray with aloe, herbs, rosewater. I have been obsessed with facial sprays lately. I feel like now that I have been using this I don't ever want to go without it,and it's funny it actually says that on the bottle. It is just so refreshing especially in the hot humid heat as of late.

8) What is your fav type of blog post to write ( review, fav, tutorials) why?
I love to do both reviews and favs, but to choose 1 reviews. Reviews are also my fav post to read or watch. They are just so helpful. I love to really get in there and analyze a product. It's just fun! Tutorials are not on my radar right now. I don't really look for to many tutorials usually, and I probably wont do many. Although I will have to say I have watched some hair tutorials. I have been really into braiding my hair lately, and I wanted to learn different types...4 strand, fishtail, waterfall

9) Which beauty trend or technique works really well for you? Which doesn't?
I love any kinda retro or throwback trends. For instance right now the 50s and 60s I believe are trending. I love how beautifully put together women looked back then just effortless. Old Hollywood Glamour will never go out of style though I'm sure. My Glamour Mag this month was the "Glamour of Hollywood" issue which was the original name of the magazine. It had a section on how hair and makeup trends have changed over the years like a now and then kinda deal...very interesting. As for a trend I don't get I'm not sure if it was an actual tend I have been seeing it around a lot though. The eyeliner line on the top part of the eyelid near the crease. Has anyone else seen ads with this look? I just thought that looked so silly! Why would that be a thing??

10) You can only blog about one brand which would it be?
To be honest if I had only one option I would not want to blog anymore. For me the fun of beauty blogging is trying new or different things. Plus I'm sure I would run out of things to say about one brand.

11) Why is beauty important to you?
Because it is fun! Because it empowers women to feel confident! Beauty is everywhere, and in everyone! ;)

July Favorites 2013

                                                                               Hey Everyone! :)
                                                                               Happy Sunday!
I wanted to talk a little bit today about my July Favs.
Some of these things I've talked about in recent post. I wont talk about these things, but they are my fav.

                                                                 *NYC/Smooth Skin Makeup

                                                                 *Elf/Lip Exfoliator

                                                                 *Elf/Lip Balm SPF 15- Nude

                                                                 *Rimmel/Show Off Lip Lacquer-Stargazer

Now on to the things I haven't mention yet:

                                                  *Organix/Anti-breakage Keratin oil shampoo
I have been using this shampoo all month, and it is wonderful.I Think this, and the reg Organix/Morrocan Argan oil shampoo are dupes for Redkin All Soft. This one has argan oil in it to though plus keratin oil for strength.I love both of them, but the Keratin oil seems to repair/strengthen my hair while the morrocan oil one just makes your hair very soft. I have been swapping them out based on how my hair is feeling. This shampoo does not have Sulfate,so it is so gentle on my hair/scalp,but does lather up to get the hair clean.

*Organix/Anti-Breakage Keratin oil instant repair healing oil
This smells soooo good.....kind like vanilla coconut.I spray this on wet or dry hair, and use it as a heat protectant or as a finishing spray to make my hair shine.I actually use this on my sons hair when its wet to keep it from stickin out everywhere as it drys lol.

                                                            *Adult Acnomel/ Adult Acne Medication
I have always had a hard time with my skin ever since......puberty/period there I said the p word. Anyway...it's hormonal, and I have tried lots of different washes,gels,creams,toners...nothin.The only thing I find happens when I use Salicylic acid or Benzoyl Peroxide is that my skin gets dried out,and I naturally have oily skin. I used a mask a long time ago that had some sulfur in it,and I remembered that it kinda helped,so I decided to go search out a treatment with only sulfur.I have not been using this a long time, but since I have been it has helped so much. When I put this on my spots at night in the morning they are dramatically reduced in size, and the redness has gone down some.I don't have the box anymore, but it seems like it said something about helping rosasea to.This does not dry out my skin either,so I am lovin it. I cross my fingers that this keeps working so well. Sometimes it feels like things will help for a while, and then just stop being effective. I think skin especially on the face is the most personalized thing there is to treat. It is hard to find something that works for one person that also works for another....ya know what I mean! I got this at Rite-aid for about $12.00.

*Maybelline/Instant Age Rewind/Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer
This is one of my new fav concealers of all time! I need to get a new one! I love the idea of treatment concealers. You get double benefits that way. This has Goji Berry and Haloxyl. I love how smooth and creamy  this is.It's not to thick not to thin either, and covers beautifully. They have one that is a dark spot treatment/highlighter in a white tube...I want it!

*Rimmel/60 seconds one coat nail polish-I lilac you
I love this color! Such a pretty dusty lilac/lavender! The formula of the nail polish is great! This does dry very quickly...I didn't time it though :),and is kinda thick when you put it on so one coat would do it. It is kinda small, but it's $1.50. I will get more colors.

*Rimmel/Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte Lipsticks
I think the Kate Moss lasting Finish lipsticks are my fav at the drugstore, and more specifically this month the color 104. They should name them though. I like the look of a matte lipstick, but it is hard to find a good matte formula. These lipsticks are so creamy, and easy to apply. They wont move to much when you put them on,and don't bleed at all. They are not at all drying on my lips.Actually I think this lipstick is kinda moisturizing. The color is so wearable for everyday.I hate hearing everyone say "Mauve is a grandma color" uh no no....I don't know about your granny, but mine wore red lipstick...lol! I Love Mauve it goes with anything, and works for everyone. Mauve and Coral are soooo my fav colors for lipstick. I love a huge variety of colors, but if I had to choose those would be it.

*Physicians Formula/Matte Collection Quad Eye Shadow-Canyon Classics
Matte eyeshadows are way harder to come by than there shimmery counterparts. These are awesome Quality. They remind me of a higher end product. The formula is smooth, and easy to blend. They have great color pay-off. You just have to lightly touch an eyeshadow brush in this to get all the amount needed.

The dark color on the end is actually a deep gray/purple,and the two in the middle are essentially the same color except one is a bit darker. The last color is just a nice soft white highlight. Now I know these may not be like super exciting colors, but they are great to have for a neutral look. These would be great for work or to off set a brighter lip color.

Well that's it for my July 2013 Favs.I hope you enjoyed my little post! I hope everyone has a most fabulous week ahead! Until next Post....xo! ;)

NYC Spotlight!

                                                                                Hi Everyone!
How are y'all doing? The weekend has flown by! Hasn't it?

So this Sunday's post will be a....NYC spotlight. I have made it a mission to find holy grail products at the drugstore. I think high-end products are awesome....every now and then...a luxury(for me). If we can find products that actually work well for us inexpensively.....why not. Lately I have been exploring WetNWild, and NYC. I wanted to share a few things with y'all! Some of these are new.

* Smooth Skin Liquid Makeup
I just want to start out by saying.....WOW. I LOVE this foundation! I almost didn't get this knowing that I have oily/combo skin. I often stay away from anything with the word smooth/smoothing in it, but it was $3. I am so glad that I went ahead and got it. When I first opened it to check it out, I was kinda worried. I tried to pour it out to test....nothing lol. This stuff is thick, and whats funny is on the bottle it says shake well. There is no shaking this foundation. I had to get it out with a q-tip. When you do actually get it out ....awesome. This goes on so smooth, blends easy, covers good, medium coverage. The formula does take a little bit longer to set on the skin though. I wore a primer, and set it with a powder. This to my shock actually stayed on my face throughout my day very well. I am not sure if it would fair as well without the primer/powder,but I always have to use both with any foundation. Come to think of it....that would be a great challenge to find a foundation with no need to prime or set. This foundation will not oxidize, and it did not break me out. I am in the shade Nude, and it matches me almost perfectly. A lot of times makeup brands will make outrageous claims for a product. Everything on this bottle for me is pretty much truth(except shake well! ;). Here is what the bottle says....
Smooth Skin Liquid Makeup
with vitamins A and E
677 Nude
lightweight blendable formula, flawless coverage.
for all skin types* oil free* Dermatologist tested
Non-comedogenic * Shake well

On a side note
I think the reason this didn't break me out,and lasted is the kaolin that is in there. Kaolin is a clay mineral, and is used in a lot of beauty masks to clear pores, and absorb oil. Also the fact that it is oil free helps.
all of the NYC products I am talking about do not contain parabens in the ingredients. Some of there products do have them though.

*Plumping Lipgloss Big Bold NYC *New

These are new and I got the shades Extra Large Latte(left),and Magnified Mauve(right)

I love both of the colors!
I just wanted to show you how big this applicator was,and it has a small well/indention at the top.
I like these. They go on smooth, not sticky, nice amount of color. Like most other plumping lip glosses there is a bit of tingle not much tough. I do think these make the lips look a little fuller. The scent is baby powderish $4

* Ultra Moist Lipwear

These are definitely moisturizing. They are very pretty colors. I just wish they had some color options that were not so frosty. These and the WetNWild moisture lipsticks are all frost finish. I like the NYC ones better though they have more moisture, feel better on, smell sweet.

*Long wearing Nail Enamel
Fuchsia Glamour ...Fuchsia?

Tudor City Teal

I don't think there is really anything that great about these nail polishes. They don't seem to be long wearing. The formula is very thin as well as the brush which makes it hard to apply without streaks. $.99 though :(

*High Definition Liquid Eyeliner * I think this is New ;)

I love this! I think felt tip pen liners are the easiest to use especially doing winged liner.I'm not sure what the high definition is all about. This says...Lasts up to 10 hours, high precision, felt tip fine pen applicator, easy to apply. This does last a long time...in the heat to,but I'm not sure about 10hrs...maybe. I do agree with everything they claim on the product though. I loved it when I first used, but was a little disappointed with the color it just wasn't as black as I would have liked. I looked the liner up on there website, and realized that there are two colors..lol extra black, and soft black which is what I got duh. I will now go and get extra black and be completely  happy with this eyeliner. Winner!  $4

*Big Bold Curl Mascara * New

I should have known better! I can not do volumizing mascara's,and this brush is bigger than most. My short little lashes did not stand a chance. If you have long, straight, sparse lashes maybe this would be good, but for me it was a fail. I don't think this actually gives curl either. It made my lashes blacker, and not much else. This is just my opinion though for my type of lashes.
I loved the NYC Mascara called Instant lash, but I don't think they carry it in the line anymore. I'm sure what they did is renamed and repackaged that mascara into Sky Rise Lengthing Mascara,so they could charge a dollar more for it...lol tricky tricky.

I hope you all like my little spotlight.I will probably do more spotlights on other brands in the future!
Wonderful week ahead to you,and I will talk to y'all next time!
Thank you for stopping by! :) xo!

It's a....haul!

Hi everyone!
This is my collective haul! ;)

You go in for some moisturizer, and come out with....lol
just kidding!

Anyway....

I will name off everything starting from the back with a short description/review. I will swatch some of the newer stuff as well.

* Not Your Mothers- Clean Freak dry shampoo
This is one that I just got. I have only used it once so first impression.....I like it. It seems to knock out the oil,and adds some volume/body. It has kinda like a chemical/soapy scent to it...like hairspray,so I wish it had a better(less strong) smell.

*Soft Soap- Ultra Rich/Shea Butter and Almond Oil body wash
CVS had these on sale, and I had a coupon so......$1 yay! Love the smell

*Simple- Soothing Facial Toner
I like it,and seems to be very gentle on my sensitive skin.

*Simple- Hydrating Light Moisturizer
This blends out to be very thin, and is very light not greasy. I feel like this should be named soothing light moisturizer. It is so calming to the skin, but is not sooo hydrating. There is just enought moisture for my combo/oily skin, but probably not for someone with dry skin.

*Rimmel- Clean Finish/Matte Foundation
I want to do a full review on this foundation,so I will skip this for now.

*Wet N Wild- Fergie/Newport Nights eyeshadow- Centerstage Collection *New
This is new for spring/summer. I'm not sure if it is limited edition or will become included in the line.
This and the lipgloss will probably be a separate review.

* Wet N Wild- Perfect Pout lipgloss/Hot,Hot,Haute *New

*Maybelline- Color Show/shredded- in Carbon Frost
I got this 50% off at CVS...yay. This is a black nailpolish with a shredded/crackle effect. I like it!

*Confetti- Pink Confetti nailpolish
Pretty translucent pink with multi color sparkle. I got this at CVS to on sale.

* Elf Lip- Lip Exfoliator
This is a new fav. I use this constantly...love. Exfoliates the lips great, and smells like vanilla!

Everything after this point I will swatch for you.

* Elf- Lip Balm SPF 15/ Nude
I LOVE this...so much. This is like a sheer lipstick, but so moisturizing. This is so smooth and creamy feels so good on. The color is so pretty. It's like your lips but better color...the perfect nude New Fav....Awesome!

*Maybelline- New/Baby Lips Electro- in Pink Shock
This is one of the new electro baby lips. This one definitely has more color, and more moisture than the other baby lips in the line. This is just a very pretty bright hot/neon pink

*Rimmel- Show Off lip lacquer/ in Nova and Stargazer *New
I love these lip lacquers. Basically they are melted lipsticks. They feel like a thick, smooth lipgloss. They last longer than lipgloss, but not as long as Rimmels lipstick. The colors are very rich, and opaque. The wand applicator has like a deep indention/well that collects more product,so they go on heavy. I love the colors I have. Stargazer is like a nude/gold with sparkle..so pretty. Nova is like a deep brown/pink mauve, and will be perfect for fall/winter. I want more! :)

*Rimmel- Stay Glossy 3D gloss in Lights,Camera,Action *New
This is a new shade from the stay glossy 3D lipgloss. This is a fav for spring/summer super pretty pinky/coral sparkle. The formula is smooth, and not sticky. This is suppose to be 6hr shine which is silly...does not last that long. I think I should mention both the laquers/stay glossy have a kinda strong baby powder smell.
left to right
Show off lip lacquer/stargazer,Nova,Stay Glossy 3D Lights,Camera,Action

*Rimmel- Moisture Renew Lipstick in Burgundy Shine
This is the only one that is not new. I got this at 75% off,so it might be discontinued. :(
I love this color! The moisture renew lipsticks smell like baby powder to,but I like the formula.

Maybelline-Color Show/Holographic nail color in Alluring Rose *New
This is from the new Holographic line. I luv the color. The finish is kind of like metallic/foil. These nail colors go on so easily...no lines.

So I hope you guys like my haul/slight review/swatches. I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Do you have any of these things? What do you think about them? I would love to hear your thoughts! I hope everyone has an awesome upcoming week! As always TY for visiting with me....until next time xo ;)

Love These Lipsticks

                                                                Milani HD Advanced Lip Colors

                                                                              Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to have a little chat about some of my fav lipsticks...........
These Milani HD Advanced Lip Colors are not in the line anymore, but I found a ton at.....the Dollar Tree($1) so that was super exciting. They are also on www.cherryculture.com for $8.00. I love the color statement lipsticks to,but (in my opinion) these are better for summer. They are light and sheer, but can be built up. These might be some of the most smooth/hydrating lipsticks I have,so easy to apply. They do have a bit of very fine sparkle, but it comes off as just a pretty sheen. For a sheer/light lipstick these have pretty good staying power. If you are drinking/eating they will transfer some, but just in general wear is great. The lipstick tube has a twist/click feature to move up the lipstick. I just love them! :) There are twelve shades, and these are the five I have.....
left to right/colors
Classy Nude,Rich Caramel,Modern Mauve,Raspberry Blush,Lovely Rouge

They are all so easy to wear! I want more now that I've been talking/gushing about them! Did I mention having a slight obsession with lipsticks/lipgloss....no....well I kinda do,but who doesn't "right"!? Hopefully I'm not the only one. ;)

Anyway! How was everyone's week? Great hopefully!
Mine was good, but for some reason this week has gone by slow...for me.
It's the weekend! yay!

Have you guys tried these? Do you love them? I would love if you would tell me your thoughts, and if you haven't follow my blog...plz! Ty!

Lovely weekend to you all! Until next time XO!

Beauty Blogger Tag

Hello! This is a bit of a different kind of post for me.This is a beauty blogger tag created by The Beau Bow,so this should be fun :)!I want to mention a thank you to polkadotsandlipgloss.blogspot.co.uk for tagging me!It is hard to get a new blog off the ground(so to speak),and I really appreciate tags, comments, follows so much.

                                                                       The Tag Rules:
                                               1. State that the tag was created by Beau Bow
                                               2. Tag five beauty bloggers
                                               3. Title the post beauty blogger tag

Here we go:

                1. Name a beauty routine you rarely do
I'm not sure if this is really a routine, but applying false eyelashes. To be
honest I haven't had much luck with them staying on. I think they look great on,but can be
a little bit of a hassle. I mostly try to stick to a good mascara.

                2. Is washing your makeup brushes something you do regularly?
I just clean them randomly as needed. Probably not as often as I should though

                3. How long will you last with chipped nail varnish?
usually not that long. That is something that kinda will bug me throughout the day. I'd rather just
have clear on than have them chipped.

                4. How long do you put off buying/replacing a beauty or nail polish product even if you
                    need it(i.e top coat,foundation)
Not very long. I am usually trying out different things, and I love to shop for makeup/beauty.

                5. What is your worst beauty habit?
Not cleaning my brushes as often as I should, and sometimes I sleep in my makeup
which I know is sooo bad for the skin.

                6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time?
                    The dishes...........definitely........lol!

                7. When going out somewhere,do you leave getting ready to the last minute or not?
I usually always end up doing it at the last minute. Even if I plan out everything, and
have the best intentions somehow it gets put off.

                8. Can you commit to spending bans?
I have not put myself on a spending ban yet,but probably should now. In the past I
haven't really needed to. If I do decide to go on one;yes I think I will fully commit.

                9. How organized is your makeup and nail collection?
I have the makeup I use often on a hanging organizer in the bathroom. My nail polish
is all thrown in a basket in my room. So I guess it is kinda organized(all in one place)
but no where near what I would like it to be.

               10. What is the longest time you have gone without writing a blog post?
